You may not see us every day, or every month. In fact, you may never have a reason to call us or come into the office, but we would like you to know that the employees of the Grays Harbor PUD aren’t strangers.

We are your friends and neighbors. Not only do we care about doing a good job for you here at the PUD, but we also care about the community in which we all live. That’s why you will find us at school meetings, community events, political rallies, leading scouts, coaching sports, teaching Sunday school.

We want to help make Grays Harbor the best place on earth to live and raise our families. We want our community to be known as a place where we care about one another, a place where people help people.

Besides pledging donations to the United Way of Grays Harbor, PUD employees are also active in the annual “Blanket and Coat Drive”. Every autumn you will find a box in the PUD lobby where donations of new, or like-new, blankets and coats are collected. At the end of the drive, United Way distributes the items to individuals, families, and children who need them.

Over 2000 blankets and coats were distributed by United Way of Grays Harbor last year. According to Mary McGinnis, project coordinator, ”Children’s coats and any blankets are the first to go. We weren’t able to help everyone who was in need”. The need is great. To learn more about United Way, go to: www.unitedway.org In

In 1990 the Grays Harbor PUD employees formed a team to participate in the American Cancer Society’s 24-Hour Relay for Life, a community based fund-raising event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for the fight against cancer. The name of the PUD team is the “Kilowatt Kids”. The team sponsors numerous fund-raising events throughout the year, with the defining event being the Relay itself.  In late May, team members, along with family and friends, gather at the Hoquiam High School Seabreeze Oval and take shifts walking, jogging or running laps to honor loved ones, and enjoy a day of fun activities, including music, food, games, dancing, singing, and many other entertainment events.
